Rome is a 3.5 hrs journey by train or a 2.5hr journey by coach. The train journey is worth taking just for the mountain views which are spectacular

The old part of Rome with the Spanish steps, the Trevi fountain, Pantheon and much much more is a must to see at some time.

Spring is an ideal time to visit Rome from Introdacqua and it is possible to see most of the sites in one long day.

But the Vatican is really a days visit of its own and one could spend the whole day in the forum.

But be warned during the summer it can be very hot in Rome
